  • Brazilian soccer legend claims he has scored over 1,000 goals in his career
  • Ronaldo and Messi are the only active players who can become highest goal scorers of all time

A Brazilian soccer legend insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will neither equal nor surpass his all-time goal record.

Romário de Souza Faria or simply known as “Romario” is a former soccer player who has made a name for himself by bagging goals. The 54-year-old legend is number 21 in 90min's Top 50 Greatest Footballers of All Time series. Though his quite magnificent career is already over, Romario still claims that nobody can ever break his goal record, not even Ronaldo or Messi.

In quotes picked up by “TMW,” transcripted by BeSoccer.com, Romario, who is also a former Barcelona star said that “when it comes to goals, he will always outscore “Leo” and “CR7”.

“I scored more than twice what they (Ronaldo and Messi) will manage,” Romario claimed.

Romario isn’t all about ego after all. In fact, he acknowledges Ronaldo and Messi’s out of this world talent. He even puts his fellow Brazilian Neymar in the same breath as the pair but thus far, he is still convinced that he’s the highest goalscorer of all-time even “in the box.”

"In the box, I'm still better than both of them," Romario added.

Romario claims to have scored over 1,000 goals during his career. However, not all of them was internationally acknowledged as the majority of those came in the Brazilian league.
