“Sons of Anarchy” will be returning to the small screen with more chaos than ever when Season 7 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 10 p.m. EDT. To get fans pumped up for the final season of the hit FX series, creator Kurt Sutter has decided to tease just a fraction of the drama he has in store in a new promo video.

The trailer, titled “Night Sky,” gave us goose bumps as we watched Jax (played by Charlie Hunnam) get flagged down by helicopters during his night ride. With each flash of the spotlight we saw Jax’s gorgeous mug evolve into that of a super creepy skull.

What do you think Sutter could be insinuating with Jax’s boney-transformation? Well, during San Diego Comic-Con 2014, the mastermind behind the thrilling series teased that answer. According to the show creator, Jax will be the “inciter of chaos” rather than the reactor during Season 7.

“The most proactive our hero has been throughout the entire series… This season he comes out with blinders on, singular in purpose,” he explained.

Sutter also touched on the fate of the show’s protagonist.

“I know where I want our hero to be emotionally and thematically at the end of the season, but I try to keep a loose grip on the story process so we can get there in an organic way,” Sutter said, adding that anything can happen considering he’s still writing the seventh script of the last season. “I can never tell what it’s going to look like or how we’re going to get there, and that’s part of the fun.”

What do you think the skull from the promo video represents? Could this mean Jax will meet a gruesome fate before the series finale? Or could this be hinting that Jax will be the one acting as a Grim Reaper? Sound off with your predictions in the comments section below.
