In a horrific incident in China, a stepmom tied a rubber band around a 7-year-old boy's genitals to prevent him from peeing, the Sun reported. The abuse reportedly included feeding the boy bleach and also scalding his private parts with boiling water.

The woman was arrested after teachers at the boy's school in Hebei, northern China, noticed his injures. On Dec. 11, the teachers first called his father when they discovered severe burns on his private parts and his inner thighs. His father then reported his wife, identified as Xiao Jie, to the police.

Chinese media reported that the alleged abuse stretched back to at least six months when the boy first moved in with his dad and stepmum.

The boy said that his stepmother made him drink a Chinese-made disinfectant known as 84. The rubber band that was tied around the boy's genitals caused swelling and prevented him from urinating.

The boy, who was raised by his grandparents, was admitted to Haixing County Hospital. Doctors reportedly said that he was being treated for second-degree burns on his genitals and inner thighs, as well as first-degree burns on his stomach.

An investigation is currently underway while the stepmom remains in custody, the Sun reported.

In a similar incident, earlier this month, a Texas stepmother was sentenced for 28 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of causing serious bodily injury to her stepson. She was accused of starving the boy and locking him in an unfinished crawlspace inside a closet.

“He looked terrible. He looked near death. He looked starved. He looked like a Holocaust victim,” Stephen Driver, assistant district attorney for Harris County, told People magazine at the time. “It was awful.”

In another incident in September involving a young boy and his stepmom, the woman was arrested and charged in the death of her five-year-old stepson. The stepmother admitted to strangling him at their southside apartment in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

“Detective (John) Boerth asked her if she had strangled Jayden and she said that she hadn’t meant to choke him ‘that hard,'” a report from officer Dianna Conklin reportedly said.
