Manchester United lost their first points of the season against Stoke City at The Britannia with a 1-1 draw.

The champions were without Wayne Rooney, who was out with a hamstring injury, while Javier Hernandez had to be substituted within 11 minutes after sustaining an injury. It didn't stop United from taking the lead as Nani linked with Darren Fletcher before cutting in and striking low into the bottom corner.

However, that didn't bog down Stoke and David De Gea made a few outstanding saves, including the ones to deny Andy Wilkinson and Jonathan Walters. His performance saw United take the lead into half-time.

Shortly after the break though, Peter Crouch managed to lose Phil Jones, in a corner, and head home Matt Etherington's ball.

Both sides missed chances as the game progressed, Crouch with a volley for Stoke and substitute Ryan Giggs with a miss from yards out.

However, despite the draw, United head the table on goal difference.
