Subaru has recalled nearly 190,000 vehicles over damaged headlights, which could impact the driver's ability to see.

The recall affects certain 2017 to 2019 Impreza models that may have damaged lamp reflectors. Vehicles with LED headlamps are not a part of the recall.

According to the recall notice, the reflectors don't provide adequate illumination, which could increase the risk of a crash due to the driver's inability to see properly or cause glare for oncoming traffic.

The issue impacts both the left and right side reflex reflectors as well as the left side low beam reflector.

Subaru was notified of the issue by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration back in July 2019, where it was found that a mold insert may have changed the headlamp's performance. The automaker tried to petition for relief from a recall but was denied the motion by the NHTSA earlier this month.

To repair the headlight problem, Subaru dealers will replace the headlamp assemblies at no charge to affected Impreza owners.

Recall notices are expected to be mailed on Oct. 11.
