Fans were shocked at first when they learned director James Gunn has gone to direct one movie to another. From being at the helm of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, Gunn now found himself in charge of another movie. This movie is “Suicide Squad 2,” a DC Extended Universe film.

Fans are now focused on what Gunn’s movie might look like, once finished, Screen Rant reported. While his loss means Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3” will look very different. Gunn has proven before that he can take a movie franchise and make it more popular through his own unique brand of storytelling. His surprise signing might also be the silver lining the DC Extended Universe needed badly.

The director seems to have welcomed the challenge, and recently, he shared an image on Instagram which signified that production had wrapped up. In true comic book movie fashion, the poster was an exclusive designed by artist John Sloboda.

The poster, CBR showed, included properties that are under the Suicide Squad franchise—piles of bloody weapons that included an easily-noticeable bloody mallet belonging to Harley Quinn, the Joker’s on-and-off paramour. The poster had been signed by cast members in the movie, including Margot Robbie, whose portrayal of Harley Quinn deserves praise.

Gunn also shared how John Sloboda’s poster was a sort of ‘tradition’ at the end of every shoot the artist did. The cast and Gunn were on hand to sign the poster, and everything else is history. He also reiterated how it wasn’t an official poster of any kind, but the director appreciated Sloboda’s efforts all the same.

The filming for Suicide Squad has ended with a bang, and with Gunn on the helm, movie fans are rightfully excited. They are also interested to see whether this will be the change that the franchise needed. Production, which merited the poster, started in September last year.

The Suicide Squad movie brings back familiar faces in Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney. There are some newcomers such as John Cena, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Taika Waititi, Peter Capaldi, Idris Elba, and Michael Rooker. It will arrive in theaters on Aug. 6, 2021.
