Taylor Swift is undoubtedly one of the greatest musicians of all time and her new album “Folklore” is just another example of how her fans eagerly waited for her to come out with new music. Billboard recently updated its Billboard 200 chart and revealed that Swift’s new album has taken the numero uno position on the chart by creating a plethora of records.

Take a look at all the records set by “Folklore” that made it the biggest album of 2020, according to Billboard.

1. Swift’s “seventh” no. 1 album

“Folklore” has given Swift her seventh number one album on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The “Lover” hitmaker has now joined Janet Jackson on the third position on the list of women with the most number one albums on the chart.

All her previous six albums – “Lover,” “Reputation,” “1989,” “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “Fearless” – claimed the top spot in their opening weeks.

Only Barba Streisand and Madonna have more number one albums than Swift and Jackson. Streisand leads the list with 11 number one albums while the “4 Minutes” hitmaker has 9 number one albums.

2. Biggest Week For An Album in 2020

Swift’s newest album sold 846,000 units in its first week and marked the biggest week for 2020 for any album. The album dethroned Juice WRLD’s album “Legends Never Die” to claim the number one position. “Legends Never Die” sold almost 497,000 units in its first week.

Also, “Folklore” is the first album since Swift’s last release, “Lover,” to have such a big opening week. Topping the charts in 2019, “Lover” sold 867,000 units in the first week of its release.

3. Three Biggest Weeks For Any Album In Last Four Years Belong To Swift

If you want to know how Swift has dominated the market in recent times, then you need to realize that the “Shake It Off” hitmaker is the only artist to have “three biggest weeks” for any album in the last four years.

In 2017, “Reputation” sold 1.24 million units in its opening weekend while “Lover” (867,000) and “Folklore” (846,000) claim the second and third spots.

4. Swift Beats BTS To Earn 2020’s Top Selling Album

After selling 615,000 copies of “Folklore” in the first week of its release, the album has already become the biggest selling album of 2020. In totality, it sold 846,000 units — led by 615,000 in album sales, 218,000 in SEA units, and 13,000 units in TEA units.

The musician beat BTS’s “Map of the Soul” that has sold 574,000 units since its release in February 2020.

5. Seven Different Albums Selling 500,000 Units In A Single Week

The acclaimed singer has become the first musician to have seven different albums each sell at least 500,000 units in a single week. All her six previous albums achieved the feat when they were released. “Fearless” (2008) sold 592,000 copies while “Speak Now” (2010) sold 1.047 million.

“Red” (1.208 million, 2010), “1989” (1.287 million, 2014), “Reputation” (1.21 million, 2017), and “Lover” (679,000, in 2019) are the other albums that scored more than 500,000 units in their opening week.
