‘Teen Mom’ Stars Respond To Maci Bookout’s Engagement To Taylor McKinney; Proposal Might Air On MTV Reality Show

“Teen Mom OG” star Maci Bookout lamented during Monday night’s episode that she wanted her longtime boyfriend Taylor McKinney to pop the question. Lo and behold, the father of her 8-month-old daughter Jayde got down on one knee a day later.

Her co-stars took to Twitter to congratulate the Tennessee native. “Congrats mama!!!! So happy for you!!!!” Kailyn Lowry, who is recovering from plastic surgery, tweeted. “Congrats @MaciBookoutMTV you're going to be a gorgeous bride!” Chelsea Houska wrote.

“Teen Mom OG” fans might be able to see how the proposal went down, since MTV was in on the surprise. McKinney told Bookout she was doing an interview for MTV.com, but instead he asked her to make him an honest man. “When he asked me to marry him, I was in complete shock. I couldn’t believe that it was actually happening, and to be honest, I couldn’t believe that he had pulled it off without me figuring it out … because I usually know everything!” Bookout told MTV in an exclusive interview Tuesday.

Bookout, 24, can’t wait to marry McKinney, whom she called her best friend in an Instagram post. “I honestly don’t think it has actually hit me yet,” the future blushing bride said. “But I am very excited and feel super blessed that I get to marry Taylor. He’s an amazing man and dad.”

She’s not the only one who is excited. Her oldest child, Bentley, whose father is ex-fiancé Ryan Edwards, was overcome with emotion. “He was shocked and emotional,” she said. “He actually teared up a little bit. I think his exact words were that he was just so happy that T-Money was finally going to be his stepdad.” As for Jayde, the baby is too little to understand what’s happening, Bookout added.

“TMOG” airs on MTV every Monday at 10 p.m. EST.
