Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed he wants Marcus Rashford to continue with the club. He has also claimed that Rashford is on the same level as France's Kylian Mbappe.

Rashford has less than six months left on his current contract with Manchester United. Ten Hag said the Red Devils will try to extend the English forward's deal by a year, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has a credible record in European soccer.

"He has to make a decision, so we can only show him that Man Utd is the best club to be in," said Ten Hag in an interview. "He has one-and-a-half years and yes, Rashford will be here for all of that."

Rashford finished his World Cup campaign with three goals after England was eliminated following a 2-1 defeat to France in the quarter-final.

The young forward received praise from his Manchester United manager, who said he saw "huge potential" in Rashford at their very first meeting itself.

"From the first moment, I recognized huge potential. And now to get out the potential, I believe when Marcus's positioning is on the back of the defending line, there is almost no better player in the world. There is Mbappe at this moment, a type like him. But when he (Rashford)'s getting in that position, he's great and you see he's really improved also out of possession," Ten Hag said.

Rashford has been linked with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a while now, with the French club chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently admitting that they would contact the player directly if he would be available for free when the winter window opens on Jan. 1.

PSG are preparing a massive offer for Rashford, which would see the English striker earn a weekly wage of around $1,039,000, making him the highest-paid player in soccer, according to Teamtalk.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, Manchester United would be in the January market in search of a replacement. They would certainly not want to lose Rashford as well.

The 25-year-old forward has netted eight goals and three assists in 19 matches for the Red Devils in all competitions this season.

Ten Hag and his team recently suffered two back-to-back defeats in club friendlies: 4-2 vs. Cadiz and 1-0 vs. Real Betis. When the season resumes following the Qatar World Cup, Manchester United will take on Burnley in the League Cup on Dec. 22.
