  • Thomas Tuchel has been Chelsea's boss for almost a year now
  • Chelsea made it to the FA Cup and UCL final last season
  • Chelsea will face either Arsenal or Liverpool in League Cup final this term

Thomas Tuchel registered a special record as Chelsea's manager after the Blues' 1-0 victory over Tottenham in the League Cup on Wednesday.

Antonio Rudiger netted the only goal of the game and led his club into the final of 2021-22 League Cup. This meant, Tuchel became the first-ever Chelsea manager to lead the Blues to the finals of the League Cup, FA Cup and the Champions League, according to Opta Joe.

Tuchel achieved the feat in less than a year of being in charge of the Stamford Bridge side.

Under Tuchel, Chelsea played the FA Cup final last season but unfortunately, they ended up losing to Leicester City. Later that season, Tuchel-managed Chelsea went on to defeat Manchester City in the final of the Champions League in Porto.

In the 2021-22 League Cup final, Chelsea will face either Liverpool or Arsenal, who are set to play the first leg of their semi-final Thursday at Anfield and the Emirates leg on Jan. 21. The League Cup final will be played on Feb. 27 at Wembley Stadium in London.

Tuchel, who will soon complete a year as Chelsea's head coach, was asked how he felt about his latest milestone in a post-match interview after his side's 1-0 win.

"Good, because that was the target. When you go to the semi-final, of course, everybody wants to get to the final. We are very happy because Wembley is waiting, full house, cup final, this is where you want to be as footballers and coaches. This was the target and now we are there. Hard work and two good matches were needed and we did the job," he replied.

Meanwhile, Rudiger, who scored the winner for Chelsea on Wednesday, is set to part ways with the club at the end of the 2021-22 campaign. His current contract is due to expire in the summer and it has been reported that the Frenchman has not agreed to an extension yet. Rudiger is expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
