Ryan Gosling was spotted meeting with “Thor: Love and Thunder” director Taika Waititi recently. While there are no announcements about which movie the actor is in talks to join, there is speculation that he may joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Waititi celebrated his 44th birthday recently, and on the same day, he was spotted having lunch with Gosling in Los Angeles, Just Jared reported. So far, the two of them haven’t announced which film the actor is being considered to be cast in.

Apart from the upcoming “Thor” film, Waititi is also working on some other films. One of his upcoming projects is expected to be about the American Samoa soccer team, and Gosling could be in talks to play the role of the Dutch coach Thomas Rongen. However, the “First Man” actor may be too young for this role, Screen Rant reported.

This is not the first time that Gosling is being considered for a Marvel film. He was previously in talks to join the “Doctor Strange” movie. Will the actor finally join the MCU as a character in “Thor: Love and Thunder”?

The script of “Thor 4” has already been completed, Deadline reported earlier this month. The production of the film is expected to begin early next year, so the Waititi may be selecting the cast as of this writing.

It remains to be seen if Gosling has joining the film, and if so what Marvel character he will be playing. The casting announcements of the film may be made when the start of production is announced early next year.

The plot of “Thor: Love and Thunder” is currently being kept under wraps. The confirmed characters of the film are Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). The film will be released on Nov. 5, 2021.
