In a new interview, “Grown-ish” star Trevor Jackson opened up not just about what he looks for in a significant other and the new season of his Freeform series but also about his feelings on Meghan Markle.

The actor filmed a special “Trevor Jackson is the Perfect Boyfriend” video piece with Elle, and, in it, there’s a segment titled, “He watched the Royal Wedding with you.” The “SuperFly” star shared his thoughts about the Duchess of Sussex and her place in society.

“Do you know what else makes me mad,” Jackson asks in the video, before going on to answer his own question. “It’s the press’ unfair treatment of Meghan Markle. She’s not only a princess. She’s an activist first, then a princess.”

Markle officially joined the British royal family in May 2018 when she married Prince Harry. She’s now pregnant with their first baby, and the couple’s expected to move into their new home at Frogmore Cottage shortly.

Prior to the upcoming move and the baby’s arrival, Markle celebrated with her friends in New York City on Tuesday with a baby shower. Before the pregnancy and the royal wedding, though, the “Suits” alum was an actress and activist. She’s long advocated for women’s rights and continues to do so still today in her new role as Duchess of Sussex.

Jackson’s video clip asks viewers to remember more about Markle than just her royal status.
