The Toronto Maple Leafs sent forward Greg McKegg to the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Zach Hyman and a conditional pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. The Maple Leafs' official website and Twitter account confirmed the deal.

The 23-year-old Hyman, who is from Toronto, was an All-American at Michigan and led the Big Ten conference in scoring last season with 54 points. He was a First Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten member and was also a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker award, which is given to college hockey’s best player.

McKegg was a Round 3 pick in the 2010 NHL entry draft and produced 19 goals and 28 assists in 65 games with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL. He played in just three games for the Maple Leafs.

The deal was among the first roster moves for the Leafs since hiring new coach Mike Babcock.
