Manchester United will bid for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller for more than $108 million, reports German news outlet Sport1.

The 25-year-old German striker is reportedly well liked by Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, who handled Muller from 2009 to 2011 with Bayern Munich.

Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao are on the way out of the Red Devils’ camp, and acquiring Muller is seen as major coup for the team if Manchester makes the acquisition this summer. Van Persie joined Fenerbache in the Turkish Super League on a three-year deal, while Falcao is on loan to Chelsea for a single season.

Van Gaal was responsible for brining youth players to Bayern Munich in the 2009 season. The pair helped the club win the Bundesliga championship the following year.

For his career club total, all with Bayern Munich, Muller has played a total of 339 matches and produced 137 goals. For the German soccer national team, Muller has 63 caps and 27 goals and was a crucial piece in Germany’s run to last year's World Cup title in Brazil.
