  • Chelsea may push for deal to acquire Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich, a report says
  • Sane has struggled to perform well since arriving at Bayern
  • Tuchel would need to offer assets to bring Sane to Stamford Bridge, according to the report

Chelsea FC already looks formidable, but it appears they are still looking to add more talent. One name that has been suggested is Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is keen on signing the German soccer player, Express U.K. reported. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

The interest in the 25-year-old may have gone up a notch following his performance with the German national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein. Sane made only his second competitive goal for Germany since June 2019, but it was the highlight of the match. According to team manager Hansi Flick, it was the result of the hard work that he has been putting in, The Athletic reported.

But throughout his stint with Bayern Munich so far, Sane has struggled to show his best form since joining the team in 2020 from Manchester City, ESPN noted. Hence, a change of scenery could help.

Tuchel reportedly hopes to sign the winger despite already having an abundance of attackers at Chelsea, according to Express. The latest addition to that mix is Romelu Lukaku.

But for Sane to join the Blues, Tuchel would have to sacrifice some of his assets. Callum Hudson-Odoi was mentioned as a player said to be on the wish list of Bayern Munich.

If not Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech is another name that could be dangled to Bayern, the report said. He has struggled to get a place in the rotation of Tuchel, but a move to Der FCB could be worth his while.

Another player who has been trying to get more opportunities is Christian Pulisic. Although he has shown great strides, the American soccer star may get more exposure if he is included in any potential deal involving Sane.

Aside from the Blues, other teams are also said to have shown interest in the German winger. That list includes Tottenham and Arsenal, according to the outlet. However, only Chelsea can offer Champions League football – the reason why a Sane move to Stamford Bridge could make sense.
