A soccer insider who specializes in finance shares interesting insight about the situation of Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

After a slow start this English Premier League season, Pogba managed to bounce back and was instrumental in two of Manchester United’s last three wins.

But as the World Cup winner seemed to have finally found his rhythm, his name is still consistently linked to a move away from Old Trafford.

With the current transfer window nearing its closure, it is becoming clear that Pogba is likely to stay with Manchester United.

According to renowned finance expert and football insider Kieran Maguire, not selling Pogba now will cause a drastic drop in the player’s value and the Red Devils would have difficulty offloading the midfield star in the future.

“I think the issue is the remaining time on his contract,” Maguire told Football Insider of Pogba’s situation. “If he does go, they could still get a significant fee for him this summer. But if it’s left to drag on to January 2022 then he is in a very, very strong negotiating position. Once you get into that final year, the value of the player, if he’s not sold in the summer window, does fall rapidly.”

“If you think back to what happened with Ross Barkley, Manchester City put in a big bid for him with a year to go on his contract and then Chelsea snapped him up six months later. He turned down the chance to leave and then Chelsea got him on a drastically reduced further down the line,” he added.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has been retired for years but has kept in touch with some of the players in his former club including, Pogba.

According to Ferdinand, Pogba doesn’t have any plans of leaving Old Trafford. In fact, the Frenchman is “happy” whenever he gets to be handed significant minutes on the pitch.

“I don’t know but whenever I’ve spoken to Paul Pogba, Paul Pogba is happiest when he’s playing on a regular basis,” Ferdinand said on the “Five” YouTube channel. “When he’s playing consistently, when he’s playing good football and when he’s winning, he’s a happy person.”

“Manchester United right now must be a happy place for Paul Pogba to be. So, for him to go somewhere else, if they win the league, I think it will be very difficult for him to walk out," he continued.
