  • Valencia is keen on selling Goncalo Guedes
  • Valencia wants to negotiate with a club that could give a big offer
  • The Portuguese striker was likened to Cristiano Ronaldo in the past

La Liga side Valencia could be looking to cash in on one of its best strikers.

Two clubs could benefit from Valencia’s plans to offload Goncalo Guedes this summer.

It is becoming more and more apparent that Guedes’ future with Valencia is “coming to a boil,” and the Spanish side has made the striker “available to the highest bidder,” according to Spanish outlet Plaza Deportiva.

At the moment, the report said that English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the frontrunners in landing Guedes.

Apparently, the Wolves are eyeing to complete another sensational transfer through the help of Guedes’ agent Jorge Mendes.

The report noted that the renowned agent has been on great terms with Wolves owner Guo Guangchang for years, and the plan is to use the said relationship to send the Portuguese to Molineux.

Aside from the Wolves, Valencia’s La Liga rival Sevilla has also emerged as challengers for the signature of Guedes, La Razon reported.

Like the Wolves, Sevilla is also hoping to secure a deal for Guedes, who is expected to cost around the region of €40 million ($48.7 million)--the same amount Valencia paid for him in 2018, the report stated.

However, it appears that between the Wolves and Sevilla, it is the English side that has the advantage in recruiting Guedes.

The outlet further revealed that Valencia will likely lower Guedes' price tag if the Wolves consider to include Rafa Mir as part of the potential deal.

At 24, Guedes has already become a star in La Liga. In the 2020-21 season, the forward has been featured in 30 matches, scoring five goals and registering five assists in the process.

What’s even more interesting is that back in 2017, Guedes generated quite a buzz after being likened to his compatriot and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to UEFA’s official website, Guedes’ skill set resembles Ronaldo’s playing style--particularly in terms of speed, shot power, and the notable nose for goals.

"Quick, incisive, powerful and with an eye for goal – it is little wonder Gonçalo Guedes has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo,” the article read. “His speed, the power of his shots and the way he is always looking to score rather than cross – as well as the ease with which he has adapted to moving more centrally – conjures inevitable comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo."
