KEY POINTS

  • Oliver Casey seems interested in moving to Blackpool FC
  • The 20-year-old is projected to flourish more as part of Blackpool FC
  • Leeds United is said to be open to dealing the young center-back

Oliver Casey of Leeds United has shown promise, and the fact he is only 20 years old means that he can only get better.

Unfortunately, his evolution into a good player may not happen at Elland Road, with multiple players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Hence, it may be in the best interest of the U-23 regular to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Per reports, Blackpool FC is the team allegedly closing in on the English footballer. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the center-back is interested in moving to Bloomfield Road.

However, any deal will have to wait. Casey is in Portugal at the moment on holiday. Moreover, he is under contract with Leeds United until 2023.

The move to the Seasiders makes sense, considering the chances of Casey breaking into the senior squad are not looking bright.

So far, he has seen action three times for the Peacocks, the last of which was a loss to Crawley.

In that match, Casey did not exactly have a good game defending the opposition.

Beyond that, the fact is that Casey has been playing behind the likes of Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk.

There is also Liam Cooper who remains a vital part of the Whites. Given these circumstances, Leeds United fans feel that it may be best for the English footballer to sit down and hear out proposals from other clubs.

Blackpool FC is reportedly planning to sign Casey on a permanent transfer although that still depends on the asking price of Leeds United.

With the promise that he has shown in the competitions where he was given the chance to play, there is a chance that a large sell-on fee may be asked by the Peacocks.
