  • Mo Salah has scored 29 goals and 4 assists this season for Liverpool
  • He is contracted with Liverpool until 2023
  • Only Haaland has scored more goals than Sancho at Dortmund this term

Liverpool FC are reportedly seeing Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho as Mo Salah’s ideal replacement ahead of the 2021 summer window.

If Salah, who has been linked with a move to either Real Madrid or FC Barcelona leaves Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s preferred choice for a replacement is Sancho, German publication BILD reported.

Even though Sancho had a slow start to the 2020-21 campaign and then got injured, he has made significant contributions for the German outfit so far, having been involved in 28 goals -- 12 goals and 16 assists. Sancho’s performances have not gone "unnoticed" by the Reds boss Klopp, according to the BILD report.

Last summer, Manchester United did everything possible to convince Dortmund to reduce Sancho's asking price of around $150 million. However, all their efforts went in vain and the young English forward remained in Germany for another season.

Liverpool are currently facing a financial crisis infused by the coronavirus pandemic. However, Salah’s departure this summer would create funds that would be “enough money” to seal Sancho’s deal, according to Sports Witness. It is understood that Sancho will be available for far less than his previous price, something that would work well for Klopp and Liverpool.

Salah, who has top-scored for Liverpool in each season since his arrival at Anfield in 2017, is once again having a great run individually. He has scored 29 goals and provided four assists in the 46 competitive matches he has played so far in the ongoing campaign.

It is believed that Salah’s relationship with Klopp is not as good as it once was and in addition to that, the Egypt national has openly admitted he would be interested in a move to Spain.

The 21-year-old Sancho is considered one of the brightest talents in European soccer at present. He kickstarted his professional career at Watford’s academy before moving to Manchester City. After spending two years at the Etihad Stadium, he was unloaded off to Dortmund at a mere fee of $11 million.

Sancho graduated from Dortmund’s youth set up in 2017 and soon after that, he made his senior debut with the Bundesliga club. Since then, the English winger has scored 46 goals in as many as 132 matches for Dortmund, across all competitions.
