KEY POINTS

  • Lingard and Pereira could be soon leaving Man Utd
  • Man Utd recently defeated Watford 3-0
  • The Reds Devils' next Premier League fixture is against Everton

Manchester United are reportedly going to sell star duo of Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard at the end of the current season.

Even if the Red Devils go ahead with this move, the fans won’t be surprised as Lingard and Pereria have been in a terrible form this season. Both the players were dropped ahead of Man Utd’s 3-0 win over Watford in their latest Premier League fixture. The win took them to No. 5 spot in the table and Man Utd, who are still fighting for the final Champions League spot for next season, now are just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Lingard and Pereira are expected to make space in the squad for Man Utd’s target, Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, as reported by Express. As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to regenerate Man Utd’s midfield, the club is hopeful of sealing the deal with Grealish before the next transfer window.

Lingard, who has managed just 23 minutes of Premier League play in the last six matches, failed to make it to the squad on three occasions.

The attacking midfielder, however, has a few clubs eyeing him including AC Milan. Even if Man Utd get rid of him, he’ll find a new home in no time. Meanwhile, Pereira has been used more regularly, when compared to Lingard, but it is understood that if Man Utd manage to strike a deal with Ashton Villa over Grealish, Pereira will have to go too.

Ever since Bruno Fernandes has arrived at Old Trafford, his game has exposed Lingard and Pereira’s poor performances over the last few months. Since Man Utd are in a very critical place right now, where they want to rebuild as soon as possible, Solskjaer would not want to give more chances to repetitive unsatisfactory players.

Fernandes, who arrived from Sporting Lisbon in January, has begun a new chapter at Old Trafford. He scored his first goal for Man Utd in their 3-0 victory over Watford. He scored from the penalty spot that put Man Utd 1-0 just before the half-time and that set the tone for the Red Devils, who eventually earned three vital points.

Solskjaer and Co, in their next fixture, host Club Brugge in Europa League's Round of 32's second leg before they travel to Merseyside to take on Everton in their next Premier League match.
