  • Newcastle United is looking for a breath of fresh air in the form of three Manchester United standouts
  • Jesse Lingard is yet to sign his extension, while Phil Jones and Nemanja Matic could benefit from a transfer
  • The Magpies' new ownership was announced last week

Newcastle United is looking to revamp their roster in a big way, and it is now believed that they are angling for some of Manchester United’s stalwarts.

In an exclusive report by 90Min, the new owners of the English Premier League club are looking towards Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones as potential January transfer targets.

As reported in the past, Lingard is yet to sign a new contract with the Red Devils and it is now believed that they will be looking to sell him in the next transfer window at a massive sale price if talks continue to stall.

Matic has been an important player for Manchester United since leaving Chelsea in 2017, serving as a mentor to Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes off the field and as a stabilizing force when he is called upon.

Jones has only appeared in two games thus far for the Red Devils as the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid has made his situation complicated, but he is a high-energy defender that could stabilize Newcastle United’s defense.

Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, took over the club as part of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund consortium last week.

The Saudi Arabia-based group is reportedly taking 80 percent of the ownership of the club after a £305 million ($415 million) deal, according to The Telegraph’s Uche Amako.

90Min also mentioned that the Magpies are very much surprised with the reception of the new owners as they have reportedly been in contact with a ton of players and agents.

Newcastle United is currently facing relegation after three draws and no wins, with fans hoping that the new owners can turn things around for them.

Of these three players, Jones and Lingard make the most sense as both players have a ton left to prove and will help Newcastle United find their footing to stave off relegation.

Matic works best with Manchester United as a tempo-setting player and will surely help the Old Trafford side contend for a title this season if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives him more playing time.

Also among those targeted by Newcastle United are Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos as well as Chelsea’s Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
