  • Sviatchenko hints that he is open to returning to Celtic Park
  • Celtic FC manager is tasked to rebuild the club following a disastrous run

Celtic FC manager Ange Postecoglou knows that he needs to make up for a disappointing season this summer.

The Bhoys are in a rebuilding process, and several names have cropped up. Among them include a former Celtic in Erik Sviatchenko, who is currently playing for Midtjylland.

Sviatchenko is reportedly on the list of prospects that Postecoglou is considering this summer transfer window.

Ironically, this suggestion came up with Celtic FC set to face Midtjylland in the Champions League second qualifying round.

For now, it remains unclear if the Danish defender would be open to returning to Parkland.

However, there are suggestions that the 29-year-old could be open to the idea since he had some unfinished business in Glasgow.

With Celtic FC, the Danish player won two League Cups and the Scottish Cup. From there, Sviatchenko was initially loaned by Celtic FC to Midtjylland in 2018 before the move was made permanent.

Under Midtjylland, Sviatchenko figured prominently in the club’s first-ever Champions League campaign last season.

That effort came to a disappointing end with Midtjylland losing their domestic title by one point.

Seeing Sivatchenko return to Celtic FC is a possibility but remains to be seen.

It all boils down to how Postecoglou can come up with as he prepares for his managerial reign.

The Danish is someone worth monitoring even as several other players not active in international football are expected to return for the preseason.

Celtic FC needs to put together a better team after a disastrous campaign last season.

Sviatchenko makes sense although he is still under contract for three years. The good news is that there is a buyout clause with Midtjylland.

Postecoglou also needs to decide and act fast if he is serious about recalling Sviatchenko for next season.

The word going around is that several other English Premier League clubs are also interested in the Danish center-back.

Although Sviatchenko would prefer a move back to Glasgow, other teams may jump the gun and hold talks with Midtjylland to close a deal for the Danish defender.
