  • West Ham joins growing interest in Calvin Ramsay of Aberdeen
  • Everton will likely make a frantic run at Ramsay after falling short to get Nathan Patterson
  • Aberdeen will unlikely to entertain lowball offers for Ramsay

It appears like most teams, West Ham United is tracking young players that are likely to be the future stars of the sport.

A name that has gained prominence is Calvin Ramsay of Aberdeen.

Before the Hammers were mentioned as the latest English Premier League team to keep tabs with Ramsay, three other clubs were also monitoring the 18-year-old player’s progress.

It remains to be seen if West Ham can get the chance to sign him at some point.

The interest in Ramsay is understandable. Under the watch of Stephen Glass, the teenage sensation is viewed as a future player of Scotland.

But all this depends on how well the Dons can fend off growing interest in the teenage sensation.

Aside from the Hammers, Everton has also been linked to Ramsay. For those keeping tabs with the transfer news, this would not be the first time this is heard.

The Toffees had an interest in Ramsay as early as January. Proof of this is Everton boss Rafa Benitez sending scouts to monitor the teenager’s performance against Motherwell over the weekend. Aberdeen lost that match, 2-0.

After losing out in their bid for Nathan Patterson in the summer, it appears Everton has diverted its attention on the teenage right-back.

However, the fee that the Toffees are willing to spend raises questions.

Like in the case of Patterson, the Rangers rejected two bids for his services. It appears the Gers want nothing less than £10 million ($13.82 million) for the Scottish player.

Everton reportedly dangled a £5 million ($6.91 million) and £8 million ($11.06 million) offer to the Rangers for Patterson.

Using that as a comparison, it appears that is the amount that the Toffees are willing to spend on Ramsay. H

owever, that may also depend on how he performs heading into the next summer.

But this early, pundits like Brian Rice feel that Ramsay is Pittodrie’s answer after failing to land Nathan Patterson.

“The young boy looks to have a massive future in the game if he keeps progressing the way he has. There will be big clubs looking at him,” Rice stated.

Other teams who reportedly have their eye on Ramsay include Leicester City, West Ham and Southampton.

Ramsay failed to finish that match against Motherwell due to cramps. However, he is expected to be ready by Saturday when Aberdeen faces St. Johnstone at Pittodrie.
