President Trump has refused to say whether he would recognize the results of the upcoming November election if he loses to presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

“I have to see. Look ... I have to see,” Trump told Fox News moderator Chris Wallace on Sunday during a lengthy interview. “No, I’m not going to just say yes. I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time either.”

The Biden campaign swiftly responded to the remarks.

“The American people will decide this election. And the United States government is perfectly capable of escorting trespassers out of the White House,” a statement from the Biden team said.

In an early June interview with “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah, Biden said he was “absolutely convinced” the military would escort Trump out of the White House if he refuses to leave.

“I promise you, I'm absolutely convinced, they will escort him from the White House in a dispatch," Biden said.

Biden has expressed concerns that Trump may try to “steal” the election, and has assembled a nationwide team of 600 lawyers to fight “chicanery” during the voting process.

In response, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany called Biden’s remarks a "ridiculous proposition."

Yet, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen warned in a February 2019 hearing before the House Oversight Committee that Trump would not relinquish power peacefully if he loses his reelection bid.

“I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, that there will never be a peaceful transition of power,” Cohen said.
