Are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom having a “shotgun wedding” because the singer is pregnant? This is what a new tabloid report claims. The “Roar” hitmaker purportedly has a bun in the oven, so the actor put a ring on her finger.

The rumor that Perry is pregnant with Bloom’s baby was started by the supermarket tabloid National Enquirer. The outlet apparently ran a story, claiming that the singer and the actor are jumping the gun on their wedding because they are already expecting.

A supposed source was quoted to have said that the lovers “have a secret plan to swap vows” because Katy already has “a bun in the oven.” The untraceable source also claimed that Orlando has been dropping clues about their plans to settle down and start a family.

The tabloid’s insider also noted that both Katy and Orlando are being “very coy” about their wedding plans, but they are said to be in the process of choosing their wedding destination. The purported “shotgun wedding” could take place in California or Italy, but Japan is also being considered, according to the insider.

Gossip Cop has since come out to slam the tabloid for fabricating a story involving Perry and Bloom. The fact-checking website pointed out the inconsistencies in the published story and verified the narrative with the help of the singer’s rep.

A major inconsistency in the narrative is the statement by the source that Katy was blown away by Orlando’s “beach proposal.” As what Perry revealed when she talked about her engagement to Bloom on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show, the actor popped the question on a helicopter after their dinner date one night.

Another irregularity in the tabloid’s story has to do with the claim that Perry is already pregnant. The “Swish Swish” songstress has been drinking that even on her guest appearance on Kimmel’s show, she admitted that she’s “so hungover.”

When the fact-checking outlet reached out to Perry’s rep, the latter called the tabloid’s “shotgun wedding” story “absurd.” A friend of the “Lord of the Rings” actor, who asked to remain anonymous, also said that such a story is “untrue.”

Perry and Bloom are actually not in a rush to wed. The two are “busy enjoying and celebrating their engagement,” a source told People last month. The source added that the celebrity couple is just “so happy and excited to be engaged.”
