"We came back after several setbacks and showed some character. We’re in the middle of a process and we’re a young side," Havertz told the Germany FA website.

Throughout Havertz’s young career, he’s already proven that he is a dependable midfielder on the pitch. He made his debut with Chelsea this year and has appeared in five matches where he’s already tallied three goals and one assist. Prior to that, he was a big piece for Bundesliga’s Bayer 04 Leverkusen where he netted 46 goals and put up 31 assists.

Havertz, who has continuously shown his development on the field, also pointed out what his team can do to improve in the future.

"We won’t allow ourselves to be knocked off course and we will carry on as we are. We need to defend better, but there were plenty of positives on show tonight," he said.

It was an overall strong effort for Germany. Havertz’s teammate, Joshua Kimmich, mentioned how well they played as a squad.

"You could tell that we had worked on things for today’s game," Kimmich said, Goal reported.

Prior to this match, Germany defeated Ukraine 2-1 for its first Nations League win of the season.

"We wanted to bring some real energy to the pitch. We should have defended better for the goals, but it was a different performance to the one against Ukraine," Kimmich said.

“We had the right mentality tonight. I don’t want to sugar coat things, but it was a step in the right direction. We need to bring our qualities onto the pitch more in the coming games," he concluded.

Germany's next match will be on Nov. 11 as Havertz's team faces Czech Republic.
