  • Many Russian leaders sought action against Ukraine for the "terrorist act"
  • Reports said the original target was Alexander Dugin
  • Russian social media was rife with allegations that the CIA and MI6 were involved

The car bomb explosion that killed Darya Dugina, the daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin's ally Alexander Dugin, has rocked Russian social media, which reverberated with calls to "destroy Ukraine."

Though Kyiv has denied any role in the explosion, a Russian foreign ministry official implied Ukrainian state structures were responsible for the incident. This comes as reports claimed Dugin was the original target, as Darya was driving his car.

According to Yaroslav Belousov, a political scientist, Ukrainians can carry out a terrorist attack in any Russian city, be it Moscow, St. Petersburg or Vladivostok.

"Ordinary Russians are also not immune from being among the victims of Ukrainian terrorism - Kyiv does not feel sorry for them at all," Belousov wrote on his Telegram page. He also urged the Russian special services to identify and stop the new threat.

Anton Korobkov-Zemlyansky, a Russian media personality, too wrote: "Whoever was behind the murder of Darya Dugina, Ukraine must be destroyed." He added there was no reason why Ukraine should continue to exist.

Denis Pushlin, the leader of the Russian-occupied Donetsk People's Republic, lashed out at Ukraine saying "the terrorists of the Ukrainian regime, trying to eliminate Alexander Dugin, blew up his daughter in a car." He also paid tributes to Darya, calling her a "real Russian girl."

The head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, called the murder "a terrorist attack on the ideology and bonds of the Russian world."

"The culprits must be found and punished to the fullest extent of the law! A matter of honor," he added.

The Russian social media platforms were also rife with allegations that the CIA and MI6 were behind the death of Darya. Some even pointed out Dugin has symbolized and intellectually projected radical anti-liberalism and political anti-Westernism for many years, making him a target, reported to Radio Svoboda.

Meanwhile, Russia has started an investigation into Darya's death, and according to the Russian Investigative Committee, someone planned and ordered the car explosion. "Taking into account the data already obtained, the investigation believes that the crime was pre-planned and was of an ordered nature," the investigative committee said in a statement Sunday.

According to Russian media, the bomb was detonated remotely, and the car was monitored and its movement was controlled.
