Economists expect a noticeable decline in the country's fourth-quarter economic growth rate, with the advanced reading likely to show growth in the world's largest economy slowed to 2.6 percent in Q418 from 3.4 percent in Q318. January non-farm payrolls are expected to increase by 155,000, compared to a gain of 312,000 in the prior period.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will start its two-day policy meeting on Jan. 29 and at the conclusion of the meeting on Wednesday, the Fed is widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged at 2.25-2.5 percent. In an earlier poll by IBT, most economists expected the Fed to reduce the number of rate increases in 2019.
