Walgreens and Blue Shield of California are expanding access to in-person and virtual care health options to Walgreens stores in California.

There will be 12 new Walgreens Health Corner locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County. Health Corners are a place that people can utilize for things like a mammogram, high blood pressure or diabetes screenings, questions about prescriptions, or help setting up medical devices.

“Walgreens has a strong community presence throughout the state and together we are offering new ways for Blue Shield members to meet their health care needs and improve their overall health,” D.D. Johnice, vice president of the Health Transformation Lab at Blue Shield of California, said in a press release.

“We are thrilled to make these resources available closer to home and to offer more satisfying and convenient support to our members and their families.”

The Health Corner locations are meant to help areas that are lacking in doctor’s offices but have a large number of people with chronic conditions like diabetes.

Dr. Sashi Moodley, chief clinical officer of Walgreens Health, said Health Corners act as “connective tissue that are keeping these patients on track, especially when they’re between doctor’s visits.”
