Wall Street opens up but capped by data, China
Wall Street ticked up at the open on Thursday following three days of declines, but gains were capped by an unexpected rise in U.S. jobless claims and moderate manufacturing data out of China.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> rose 11.26 points, or 0.12 percent, at 9,785.28. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 1.77 points, or 0.17 percent, at 1,032.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 7.55 points, or 0.36 percent, at 2,116.79.
