Wall Street trims gains on data; resources boost
Stocks cut gains on Wednesday after a round of mixed data, but the indexes were kept higher by increases in energy and resource shares.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> rose 56.15 points, or 0.66 percent, to 8,503.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 5.50 points, or 0.60 percent, to 924.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 12.26 points, or 0.67 percent, to 1,847.30.
