Los Angles Chargers receiver Travis Benjamin arguably made one of the worst plays in football history when he decided to run to during a punt return in the second quarter of Sunday’s game. Not only did he lose 8 yards for his team, it also resulted in a safety for the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

If dropping the return at his own 11-yard line wasn’t enough, Benjamin picked up the bouncing ball and ran backwards into the end zone. That’s where he got tackled behind the goal line, bringing the Patriots to a 9 to 7 advantage.

Previously, the score was tied at 7 to 7. The Patriots wound up winning the match 21 to 13.

Benjamin did not immediately respond to the gaffe on social media.
