The Weeknd couldn’t make it on Selena Gomez’s birthday due to prior commitments, but he made sure to make it up to her.

On Saturday, Gomez turned 25. Unfortunately, the love of her life was in Paris to headline the Lollapalooza on the same day. However, Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a The Weeknd, immediately jetted back to the United States after the event to be with his lady love for her birthday, E! News reported.

A day after Gomez’s birthday, the two were spotted out for a lunch date in Los Angeles. Gomez and The Weeknd dressed for comfort. The “It Ain’t Me” singer donned a white tank, comfy white pants and white sneakers. Her boyfriend also kept a low profile but opted for a black color to give contrast to Gomez’s get up. The Weeknd sported a black jacket, black pants and black slides.

The night before, Gomez enjoyed a low-key birthday bash with her friends. In the photo the “Bad Liar” singer shared on Instagram, she was dressed comfortably in sweater and pajamas as she sat atop a kitchen table. She was surrounded by her friends and balloons. She had two green cakes with lighted candles. “Thank you for all of my bday love. I couldn't be more blessed. A lot of you don't realize how much you mean to me. I. Love. You. --think 25 is going to be epic. Xo,” Gomez wrote. In another post that featured some of her guests, Gomez wrote, “My people.”

In other news, Gomez admitted that she’s done hiding her relationship with The Weeknd because she wanted to be happy with her beau. “I think for me I have experienced so many different phases in my life because I’ve been doing this for so long I don’t think there is anything that I want to, not necessarily hide, but I’m genuinely myself,” Gomez told Ryan Seacrest. “Hiding things...it’s too much pressure. I’m so happy with my music, my health is most important, my family is most important, but at the same time, I just want to be happy. So if that’s me just being myself, then I don’t really care.”
