Throughout his career, The Weeknd has kept a low profile when it comes to interviews and still remains a mysterious figure in music. While the “Starboy” singer has started to open up more, interviews with the R&B star are still rare.

That’s why the Grammy Award winner’s latest interview with GQ is a change of pace for an artist who likes to stay out of the spotlight. Speaking with the publication, The Weeknd (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) opened up about his thoughts on marriage and children, and his opinions may surprise some.

After breaking up with model Bella Hadid following their year-long relationship, the 26-year-old opted to not discuss her, but he did reveal that marriage scares him. “I feel like I’m the kind of guy that would have kids before getting married. The first thing would be kids. Marriage is scary to me, man.”

Following his breakup with Hadid, the “I Feel It Coming” singer has been tied to Selena Gomez, as the two were spotted out together and photographed kissing. While the artists have yet to confirm their relationship, The Weeknd says he is in a different place psycho-sexually and isn’t the same person he was in his previous songs.

“Right now, I’m much more, like, self-regulating than I was four years ago, when I first started getting everything and enjoying life,” he told GQ. “I don’t focus on it as much as I used to. You know what I mean? Before it’s like… ‘this is amazing.’ Right now, it’s like a good song turns me on way more. Like, that gets me horny, like, literally gets me horny.”

While the singer may have his doubts about marriage, an E! News source says he and Gomez are taking their relationship slow. “They are taking things slow and getting to know each other,” the source said. “But they’ve decided they really don’t care if everyone knows about them,” another source said.
