The holiday shopping season if officially kicking off this week as Target and Amazon both seek to grab early shoppers concerned about rising prices with fall savings events. With both retailers offering enticing discounts on a wide variety of products, as well as additional perks, many will likely get a jumpstart on their extensive holiday shopping lists.

Here's everything to expect from both events:

Target Deal Days:

Target is once again kicking off its busy shopping season with an October "Deal Days" event, which will take place from Oct. 6-Oct. 8.

According to CNBC, the event will likely find heavy discounts on seasonal items, as well as Target-exclusive brands, such as Good & Gather food products, Brightroom storage and Room Essentials home items. The company has not explicitly stated what items they will offer as part of the sale, but stated in a press release about overall holiday season plans that discounts can be expected in toys, apparel, home décor, everyday essentials and on stocking stuffer items.

The biggest draw of the event is that it also coincides with the first day of the company's holiday price adjustment programs. If consumers buy something during Deal Days and it goes cheaper at Target anytime between then and Christmas Eve, the retailer will match the cheaper price.
