On Wednesday night’s episode of TLC’s reality show “My 600-Lb Life,” subject Cynthia has never seen her daughter, Ukiah, perform in a dance recital. For one of the first times, Cynthia realizes the impact her weight has on others when she drops Ukiah off to practice.

“I want to be out there with my kids. That’s what a parent is supposed to do. I want to see them do things. I’m proud of them,” Cynthia tells the cameras in a promotional clip. “I want to be there when they look up in the stands because kids need that. It makes them go harder.” Cynthia has never been to one of Ukiah’s recitals.

With the TLC cameras in tow, Cynthia watches her daughter at dance class for the first time. “I’ve never seen her practice before. This is the first time. She’s been dancing since kindergarten. I want to be able to see everything she does,” the mother-of-five says in the teaser. “She’s a dancer. She performs and I can’t make it to her performances. I know she’s amazing but I don’t get to see what they see. That’s something I should be able to do.”

After she watched Ukiah practice for the first time at dance class, she realizes that her weight hurt her children as much as herself. “I see now that I’m harming them as much as I’m harming me because I’m not letting them live to their full potential as well,” Cynthia mused. “They just sacrifice because they love me and they don’t argue or gripe about it, but I’m missing their whole childhood.”

To help get her weight under control, Cynthia seeks the help of renowned Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan, M.D., F.A.C.S. She most likely underwent gastric bypass to help drop the pounds.
