Billionaire fashion tycoon Anders Holch Povlsen reportedly lost three of his four children in the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka.

The bombings, which were reportedly carried out by a local jihadist group, killed 290 people and injured approximately 500 in attacks on churches and hotels. There have been 24 arrests as of Monday.

Povlsen, 46, the richest man in Denmark with a net worth of $7.9 billion, owns clothing company Bestseller, which holds a 26% stake in British fashion retailer Asos. Povlsen also owns a 10% stake in German online retailer Zalando.

Jesper Stubkier, communications manager for Bestseller, confirmed to the Press Association on Monday that three of Povlsen's children were killed and declined to comment about the identity of the children.

"We have no further comment and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this time," said Stubkier.

Povlsen was vacationing with his family in Sri Lanka.

He and his wife Anne live in Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city. Povlsen has a brother, Niels, who also works for the company.

Povlsen is Scotland’s largest private landowner and has 12 estates covering more than 220,000 acres. He also owns land in Romania.

His parents opened the family's first clothing store in 1975. By the age of 28 he was the sole owner of Bestseller.
