Actress Kate Hudson on Monday announced she is engaged to boyfriend Danny Fujikawa. Hudson, who has mostly kept the relationship private, revealed the news in an Instagram post that was captioned, "Let's go!"

Fujikawa is a musician who has mostly kept himself out of the media spotlight.

Hudson, 42, and Fujikawa, 35, have been together since 2016 but have known each other for about 17 years, Hudson explained in a one-year anniversary Instagram post in 2017. She said she met Fujikawa through his step-sisters and that she has always considered him a close family friend.

“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His stepsisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade,” Hudson posted.

Fujikawa was born in Los Angeles and studied music at New York University. He was the lead singer and guitarist for the Los Angeles–based folk-rock band Chief and played alongside his brother. Chief released their debut album in 2010.

Fujikawa's LinkedIn profile states that in 2013 he founded Lightwave Records.

Hudson and Fujikawa have a 2-year-old daughter, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa. Hudson has two other sons, Ryder Robinson and Bing Bellamy, from previous relationships.
