The Premier League has been the most dominant league in the world for quite some time and with lucrative television contracts, the league continues to see a windfall in profits. The heightened attention means big paydays for top players.

According to Spotrac, Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne is the Premier League’s highest paid player with an annual salary of £16,683,333.

The Belgian star has provided a big lift for City, as the club hopes to repeat as champions. In 2017, the Guardian rated De Bruyne the fourth-best player in the world.

Some publications, however, list De Bruyne's salary below Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez. The Daily Mirror reports that Sanchez earns £500,000 a week, while De Bryune pulls in £350,000 a week.

Spotrac lists Sanchez very close behind De Bruyne with an annual salary of £16,380,000.

Rounding out the top three is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba with £15,080,000.

From there, the players’ salaries drop off quite a bit, using Spotrac's figures.

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has a yearly compensation of £13,975,000. In fifth is De Bruyne's teammate Sergio Aguero, who earns £11,440,000.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, the reigning player of the year, is in a five-way tie for fifth at £10,400,000.

What is notable about the top 10 list of highest wage earns is that all of them are under the age of 31. Ozil and Aguero are both 30 years old. Pogba is 25 years old, while Salah is 26.

The highest-paid England-born player is Harry Kane. The 25-year-old forward is tied for sixth at £10,400,000 with Salah, playmaker Eden Hazard, goalkeeper David De Gea and Romelu Lukaku.
