After a highly successful two years, Ed Sheeran is taking a step back. He announced the news in a social media post on Tuesday.

"Hello all. Gonna go on another break again," the 28-year-old began.

"The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it's all over it's time to go out and see some more of the world. I've been a bit non stop since 2017 so I'm just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read," he explained. "Il [sic] be off all social media until it's time to come back."

"To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya - and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing, I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I've lived a little more to actually have something to write about. Lots of love x," Sheeran concluded.

This isn't the first time the Sheeran has taken a breather from the web. He had a year-long hiatus and social media break in 2015 before the release of his third album, "Divide." It was this 2017 album that gave fans the top 10 singles "Shape of You," "Castle on the Hill," and the ballad "Perfect."

Then, in 2019, the English singer/songwriter dropped a collaboration album that gave listeners hits like "Beautiful People" with Khalid and "Antisocial" with Travis Scott. He did all of this while simultaneously touring the world. (The tour lasted from March 16, 2017 – Aug. 26, 2019). Oh, and let's not forget, he also got married to Cherry Seaborn while all of this was happening.

To say he's more than earned his time off is an understatement. Luckily for fans, they've been through this before and if his comeback is anything like the last one, there is a lot to look forward to.
