Why Expanding Globally Often Hurts Profits—and How One Expert Changed the Game

The global digital economy is changing from one unified borderless space to a tangled system of local rules and restrictions. This shift comes from the rise of digital sovereignty, which mandates keeping data within borders and limiting how information moves between countries. This often leads to complications and raises costs for global companies trying to manage a successful strategy across multiple regions. According to the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), as of early 2026, 179 of the world's 240 analyzed jurisdictions had enacted data protection laws, covering approximately 80% of the global population.
So, dealing with such restrictions requires advanced technical skills and strategic planning. It goes beyond regular digital marketing and emphasizes the need to standardize systems. Franck Gordi, the founder and CEO of SPFG Web Expertise LLC, a digital marketing consulting firm, and a Senior Member of the e-Commerce & Digital Marketing Association (ECDMA), specializes in this area. Gordi has more than a decade of experience in SEO, Google Ads, and strategies focused on data-driven digital growth. Starting his career as an independent digital consultant in 2014 before joining the agency Tamento, he became one of the leading consultants on key strategic projects, handling and expanding an SEO and SEA client base that brought in seven figures in annual revenue. However, he realized that the company's campaigns performed poorly because the commercial teams could not understand the technical processes. As a result, he developed training modules that have been used to teach thousands of professionals.
Over the years, Gordi's responsibilities shifted from technical tasks to enabling broader initiatives. While working at Tamento, he noticed a huge gap in the operations of one of their clients, the Solocal Group. Even with their massive size, Solocal often got stuck in its own success. They had disorganized digital strategies, misaligned company culture, and no single system for measuring success. Worse still, their talented teams and big budgets were going to waste because there was no unified digital plan to guide them. To solve this problem, he built the Commercial SEO Literacy Model - a structured, scalable methodology used to train and align thousands of Solocal employees across different departments, including commercial teams, account managers, and consultants. Then at SQLI, he observed that Bioderma, one of the company's clients, could not maintain technical consistency and brand effectiveness in different markets due to fragmented technical practices that hurt their global SEO efforts. So, he helped establish a critical system to coordinate the global digital launch of a number of corporate websites across the world, creating a clear model for both unity and effectiveness. Today, Gordi's success lies in one key area: using a unified and data-focused approach is the single effective method to handle and improve digital assets. This method remains crucial to achieving lasting market dominance and dealing with the challenges of inconsistent regulatory systems.
Big companies are often confronted with the issues of fragmented operations and low digital skills. These problems hurt service delivery and business productivity. Gordi noticed this issue at Tamento, where he handled and grew an SEO/SEA client portfolio that brought in more than $1 million in sales every year. The specific struggle for the company was maintaining quality and consistent service across this important, high-earning portfolio. "Expertise was also fragmented. Consequently, commercial teams did not have a clear and consistent technical understanding of performance metrics," he says. "This affected both client trust and the ability to keep clients." Gordi closed this gap and brought more professionalism to the commercial process by creating a clear and flexible approach. He developed training modules that were deployed across Solocal Group's national sales force, equipping 7,012 sales professionals, a case study subsequently published in the International Journal of Research in Commerce and Management Studies (DOI 10.38193/IJRCMS.2026.8437). This effort helped standardize SEO knowledge and allowed them to consistently provide high-quality consulting services as their client base kept growing.
Besides, large businesses face the challenges of operational fragmentation and poor digital literacy. Solocal Group, a major Tamento client, faced this issue in an even more profound way. At the company, a serious disconnect in operations left their sales and commercial teams struggling without a uniform understanding of the advanced digital products they provided. This lack of crucial knowledge led to major problems in serving clients and managing resources. As a result, they had inconsistent sales pitches, poor reporting, and costly communication breakdowns between the technical and commercial teams. To tackle these problems, he introduced the Commercial SEO Literacy Model, a well-organized system of learning that includes teaching tools focused on important SEO ranking factors and KPIs, helping to create a common understanding between commercial and technical teams. For years, Tamento has adopted this model to make performance explanations consistent. This reduced confusion and helped the company improve both its operational efficiency and service delivery.
Yet, another big challenge facing international corporations is how to keep their technical systems and brand performance consistent across different markets. Poor technical execution and flawed reporting can weaken global SEO and advertising efforts, making it harder to reach new markets. While doing an assignment for Bioderma, Gordi found out that the company struggled to maintain technical consistency and steady brand performance across many unique markets. So, fragmented technical work was weakening their worldwide SEO efforts. He fixed this issue using a special framework designed to coordinate multiple markets. Over time, he refined this solution through the execution of important projects, such as supporting the global SEO and analytics launch for 33 corporate websites of the company. This framework sets strict SEO rules, analytics methods, and performance goals that every local market must follow without exception. By using this approach, the company ensured a unified, well-optimized digital presence across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. This structured approach guarantees that branding is uniform while boosting the overall SEO alignment of the whole organization. "In a world where things change all the time, we stay ahead by watching algorithm changes always and adjusting our strategies as needed," he adds.
Furthermore, businesses putting huge, six-figure budgets into digital ads in fast-moving international markets often don't see a guaranteed return on investment. This happens because global digital operations are tricky, unpredictable, and massive in scale. Gordi, while working with clients at SPFG Web Expertise LLC, noticed three big reasons behind this challenge: messy technical setups, inconsistent data reporting, and a lack of proper coordination across different regions. "In places like Europe, the U.S., and Asia, where competition is fierce, these problems make it hard for companies to quickly improve performance," he explains. "As a result, their large ad budgets become vulnerable to rapid market changes and shifts in digital algorithms." This situation led him to design his premium service model to address this widespread disconnection. He used advanced optimization methods and built new analytics systems to enhance multi-market Google Ads and multilingual SEO efforts for these clients. This precise and data-focused approach resulted in clear, measurable outcomes: clients saw organic traffic grow by 200-300% in just a few months. The company also helped them improve Google Ads Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), reaching up to 5-6 times on global campaigns. This success boosted digital expansion in different parts of the world, proving the worth of the company's top-tier service model, which is designed to secure valuable contracts.
Finally, expanding into more countries means leaving behind more opportunities unless someone takes charge and aligns everything to work in harmony. Franck Gordi managed to do just that. With years of intense focus and unique frameworks most CMOs aren't familiar with, he transformed disconnected country websites into one powerhouse of profit. He also unified disorganized employees into a single force for growth. He equally turned huge ROAS and organic growth figures from mere wishes into realities. As our world grows more connected and more divided, bold and relentless unification is no longer a nice-to-have or a best practice. It has become the single real competitive edge that is left. Franck Gordi's clients continue to reap the benefits of that unification.
