  • Prince Harry and Markle were shocked by the pain of losing their second baby

Meghan Markle had a reason why she penned an op-ed about her miscarriage months after enduring the painful loss of her second baby, according to a report.

Markle got candid about the pain she and Prince Harry endured after they lost their second baby. She waited for months before she shared it with the public because it was too painful. Nevertheless, she chose to share it because she knows that many people are going through the same painful experience but they just keep it to themselves. Some consider it taboo and Markle wants to encourage compassion and further conversation around pregnancy loss.

"She talked about the taboo of miscarriage,” Ruth Bender Atik, national director of the Miscarriage Association in the U.K, told People.

“And I know that’s something that concerns a lot of people. And she talked about her feelings of both physical and emotional pain — for Harry too. It’s important to realize that partners are affected.”

An insider also spoke with People about what the royal couple went through following Markle’s miscarriage. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were allegedly shocked by the pain it brought them.

"They kept their miscarriage private for months because it was very painful and not anything that they knew if they would ever want to share," a source told People.

"They both seemed shocked at how painful it was. Meghan was ready to share now because so many women go through the same thing in silence."

Despite the loss, the couple is embracing the joy of having their 19-month-old son Archie around. They celebrated their first Thanksgiving in the United States. They gathered vegetables from their garden and cooked it for their meal at home in Montecito, California.

The Sussexes are reportedly doing well and are in good health. Prince Harry and Markle took a time off to focus on their family. The duchess' mom, Doria Ragland, also visited them and made the former actress happy. Ragland is guiding the couple to heal following the painful loss.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace was criticized for not giving a statement about Markle’s pregnancy loss. Royal expert Russell Myers felt that it was a “huge missed opportunity for the royal family.” However, some believed that the palace did what was right.

"What do you want Buckingham Palace to do? Put a sign out that Meghan Markle had a miscarriage? Like myself who I would never say anything not because of shame is because people bring it all the time. That's why I said nothing when I had a 2nd one. No it's not taboo. It never was," one user wrote.
