  • Prince Philip was hospitalized

A royal fan asked why Queen Elizabeth II did not wear a crown at the State Opening of Parliament.

On Thursday, the Queen addressed the parliament for its official opening. One royal fan wondered why the Queen was not wearing a crown. Some speculated that the Queen skipped her headpiece because it was too heavy.

“Novice question, but why didn’t Her Majesty wear the crown in the second photo for the event?” a royal follower commented on the Queen’s photo on Instagram.

“It’s very heavy and she’s quite elderly now. It still has to appear as a symbol. Hope that answers your question,” one user commented.

Another user said that it was not necessary because they already did that ceremony. Also, according to the official Parliamentary website the opening this year will “take place with reduced ceremonial elements” due to “unique circumstances of the general election and the proximity to Christmas.”

The Queen spoke about climate change which is a topic close to the heir apparent’s heart. However, Prince William and Prince Harry’s father couldn’t help but nod off.

“My Government will continue to take steps to meet the world leading target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050,” Queen Elizabeth II said.

“It will continue to lead the way in tackling global climate change, hosting the COP26 summit in 2020. To protect and improve the environment for future generations a bill will enshrine in law environmental principles and legally binding targets including for air quality,” she continued.

Meanwhile, some had the impression that the monarch looked “very frail” during her speech.

“Queen looks very frail,” one commented.

“I think because the queen is in day dress it is more noticeable how frail she seems,” another added.

Prince Charles and Prince William will have a “tough job” after Queen Elizabeth II’ leadership because the current monarch’s character contributes to the monarchy’s stability. Historian Greg Jenner even described Queen Elizabeth II as someone who is “truly remarkable.”

Just recently, Queen Elizabeth II was photographed looking down upon her arrival at the King’s Cross station. Her Majesty donned a pink dress and coat with a headscarf. She was also carrying her signature bag.

Queen Elizabeth II was set to start her traditional Christmas holiday at her Sandringham estate in Norfolk. She will be joined with the other members of the royal family including Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The said sighting happened shortly after it was reported that Prince Philip was hospitalized. However, royal fans should not be worried because the Duke of Edinburgh’s admission was planned. Also, he walked into the hospital unaided.
