KEY POINTS

  • Man Utd defeated Wolves 1-0 last week in the league
  • Man Utd will take on Bournemouth on Tuesday
  • The Red Devils have won four out of their last five league games

Manchester United are set to host Bournemouth in their Premier League clash Tuesday at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag's Red Devils have won four out of their last five games in the ongoing season of the Premier League. After their 1-0 victory over Wolves and Tottenham's loss to Aston Villa, Manchester United entered the top four of the table.

With 32 points from 16 games, Manchester United are now in fourth place, while Bournemouth are in the 15th spot with 16 points from 17 games. The Red Devils are expected to continue their winning momentum as their opponents, Bournemouth, have clinched just one victory in their last five Premier League outings.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Manchester United's match against the Cherries, Ten Hag hinted that he might have Scott McTominay and Lisandro Martinez back in his match-day squad. While McTominay missed the Red Devils' fixture against Wolves due to an illness, Martinez was away as he re-joined the squad late following his World Cup triumph with Argentina.

"We have to see. Both were training yesterday and today, so I am quite optimistic about [them] returning to the squad, both of them," Ten Hag told reporters.

The Dutch boss also said Manchester United will be without 23-year-old defender Diogo Dalot, who is recovering from a hamstring injury.

"Diogo Dalot also, he is making good progress - but we don't want to take risks with anyone because we know there are many games to come and we need a full squad to cover all the games," added Te Hag.

Meanwhile, England forward Jadon Sancho will continue his individual training program and will be away from the first-team squad. Sancho, who was impressive in Manchester United's pre-season tours, produced a promising start in the 2022-23 campaign. However, he lost his form midway.

In a recent interview, Ten Hag admitted that Sancho was not "physically" or "mentally" ready to play for the club.

Manchester United will hope their young forward Marcus Rashford to once again step up for them Tuesday. The English forward has scored for them in their last three games across competitions. In 22 competitive games this season, Rashford has netted 11 goals and four assists for Manchester United.
