“Black-ish” actress Yara Shahidi will star in her own spinoff on Freeform. But even though the teenage actress will have her own show, she will still be part of “Black-ish.”

TV Line writer Michael Ausiello spoke with “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris, who said, “We will definitely see her. We’ll see her the way you see any kid who’s in school.”

According to Barris, Shahidi’s Zoey will pop in and out of “Black-ish” to visit her parents and siblings at home. More specifically, Barris said that Zoey will be a huge part of the premiere episode of “Black-ish” Season 4. From there, she will go about her college life, and that’s where the spinoff will kick off.

Earlier this month, Shahidi graduated from high school and will also be heading to college in real-life. However, the actress decided to go on a year-long break before pursuing a degree at Harvard. Prior to announcing her decision to attend Harvard, Shahidi first revealed that she got accepted by all the Ivy League schools she applied for.

But on her Instagram account, the 17-year-old actress posted a photo of herself wearing a Harvard sweatshirt, which obviously confirmed her decision. While speaking with Seventeen, Shahidi said that she will be taking up a major in African American studies and sociology. However, she hasn’t decided on what her minor would be.

“Because for me, as much as I want free time, I love to challenge myself. And so it really goes back to the point that I want to study as much as possible and doing a double major is the solution… I have not decided on a minor. I don’t know if I am going to go more creative and do something in the arts of if I’m going to do a social justice minor, so that is still up for debate,” she said.

Shahidi’s yet-to-be-titled “Black-ish” spinoff will center on Zoey’s college life. In an episode of “Black-ish” Season 3, Dre (Anthony Anderson) drove Zoey to her college orientation and became a tad bit emotional. As of late, the release date for the spinoff hasn’t been announced by Freeform.
