A male contestant on the popular TBS prime-time game show “Wipeout” died Wednesday after completing the obstacle course.

Reports state that the man started experiencing chest pains after he completed the course. He was pronounced dead a little before 7:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday after arriving at the hospital, said Sarah Ardalani, a Los Angeles County coroner’s spokeswoman.

The man's name and age have not been released. No information has been released about the event he was competing in.

There are two paramedics on the set — a safety producer and a parametric coordinator — in the event that there is a medical emergency. Medics used a defibrillator and took life-saving measures before the victim was transported to a hospital.

"We are devastated to have learned of his passing and our deepest sympathy goes out to the family," TBS said in a statement.

Endemol Shine North America, the production company that distributes “Wipeout,” said in a statement that it offered "our heartfelt condolences to the family and our thoughts are with them at this time.”

While filming has stopped for a week, the show still plans to continue the reboot. A premiere date has not yet been set.

"Wipeout" premiered on ABC in June 2008.
