A woman fatally beat her 18-month-old daughter after the baby refused to drink milk and had accidentally tripped over her mother’s skin care products in Taiwan on Tuesday. She then took the body with her to a karaoke session, thinking the baby was sleeping, only to realize later the girl was dead.

The woman was appointed the custodian of the baby after she split with her husband in 2018. She was living with her three female relatives. On the night of the incident, the woman beat the baby with a back-massager after she refused to drink milk and also accidentally put her cosmetic products down. The woman also allowed her three relatives to beat the child, World Of Buzz reported.

A few minutes later, the baby lost consciousness after crying profusely, however, the woman and her relatives thought the baby had gone to sleep. They then took the baby for a Karaoke night where they had fun for over three hours.

After the session, the mother noticed the baby’s eyes had rolled back and immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead. Doctors called police after they found bruises all over the baby’s body. Autopsy showed the baby had died of intracranial hemorrhage or bleeding from the skull. Police believe the baby’s head was smashed against a wall or she fell on the ground head first, resulting in the hemorrhage, local daily the Oriental Daily reported.

The woman and her relatives were taken into custody but they defended themselves by saying the baby was possessed by evil and that they had to beat her to make her obedient. The baby was beaten up every time she cried since January this year.

Police then raided the house and found all the tools that were used to beat the child, including a massage tool, a cane, and a plastic tube.

The news came as a shocker to the baby’s father who wrote an emotional Facebook post saying, “Daddy will make sure justice is served. I regret I didn’t make you stay with me and allowed you to go through all the sufferings. I’m sorry, please be my daughter in the next life. Daddy loves you.”

The news went viral and several people surrounded the police station to protest against the child abusers. Most of them disobeyed the police instructions because of which hundreds of policemen had to be dispatched to the scene.

The mother and her relatives were in custody after they pleaded guilty to the crime.
