A woman suffered a horrific death after she was boiled alive when molten caramel suddenly gushed into a huge tank she was cleaning at a confectionery factory in Russia, reports said Tuesday.

Natalia Nemets, 36, met with the appalling accident at a sweet factory in Stary Oskol in the Belgorod Oblast region in Russia.

Co-workers were reportedly unable to do anything to help the mother-of-one after she fell into the container.

"She did not cry, no other noise was heard. The caramel was removed from the giant bowl and only then was her body was taken out," one told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, as translated by the Independent.

"Nobody could explain how it could happen. Natalia did not have a single chance to survive. Besides the fact that it was boiling caramel, in the bowl there are moving blades that constantly mix the caramel," Daily Mail reported as translated from the newspaper.

Her colleagues noticed that she had not been at her place in the factory for some time and when they searched for her they were shocked to see only her legs poking out of the molten caramel in the tank which she fell into.

A worker told newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, as translated by News.co.au, "She was cleaning the mixer when the caramel suddenly began to flow into the bowl. She got boiled alive, this is true. The caramel was removed from the giant bowl and only then was her body was taken out. Besides the fact that it was boiling caramel, in the bowl, there are moving blades that constantly mix the caramel."

The dead woman’s sister Yulia told News.com.au that "Her child is with us now." Nemets is survived by her husband and her 10-year-old son named Ivan.

The Komsomolskaya Pravda report added as translated by News.com.au: "Two versions are being considered now — because of the high air temperature in the working room Natalia fainted and somehow fell into the bowl. The second version is that she stumbled."

A labor commission has already started an investigation into the case and is expected to release a report in the next 15 days.

In 2016, a similar incident took place in a Russian chocolate factory when a woman died after reportedly falling into an industrial mixer stirring molten chocolate, Metro.co.uk reported at the time.

Svetlana Roslina, 24, was reportedly crushed to death while she was trying to escape a large vat of chocolate being mixed in a factory in Fedortsovo, north of Moscow.

Witnesses had provided different accounts of what had actually occurred in the factory. One said Roslina was emptying ingredients into the vat, and another noted that she had been searching for her cell phone.

“She was minced. Only her legs were left,” a source had told Metro.

While another source had stated: “The girl was dragged in when she was trying to empty a sack.”
