‘World Of Dance’
Will contemporary dancer Nick Daniels make it through the duels in “World of Dance” Season 1? NBC

World of Dance” Season 1 is heading to the next round of competition: the duels.

In the teaser released by NBC for Tuesday night’s episode, all of the dancers, depending on which categories they are in, will be pitted against each other in the duels. For instance, contemporary dancers and junior contestants Diana Pombo and Eva Igo could compete against each other for a spot in the divisional final. Upper dancers and teams will also be competing against each other.

But before the divisional final, there will first be elimination in “World of Dance” Season 1. Since there are only 10 episodes for the first season and Tuesday night’s installment is already the fourth episode, it is highly likely that the cuts will take place within a week or two. Following the cuts, the remaining contestants will be heading to the divisional final and only three dancers from the junior, upper and team categories will be selected.

The three performers will be competing in the world final, but only one will have the chance to bring home $1 million. As of late, it is unclear whether or not NBC will pick up “World of Dance” for Season 2. But on week three, Lopez asked one of the contestants who did not make it past the qualifiers to return to the competition next year.

Additionally, the ratings for “World of Dance” for the past three weeks have been very impressive so NBC may benefit greatly from renewing it for Season 2. According to TV by the Numbers, “World of Dance” tied with “America’s Got Talent” for the biggest three-day increase in terms of demo rating. The dance reality TV competition went from a 1.9 rating to a 2.5. rating. Following its premiere episode, NBC also dubbed “World of Dance” as the highest-rated summer program this year.

“World of Dance” is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez. The “All I Have” singer also acts as judge on the show. She is joined by “Dancing With the Stars” pro Derek Hough and singer Ne-Yo. Jenna Dewan Tatum hosts the show.

“World of Dance” Season 1 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
