After spending 35 days and nearly 200 hours putting together the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle, Dave Evans’ pride and joy fell apart the day after it was completed.

And to rub some salt into Evans' wounds, the entire accident was caught on camera while he was showing off his handmade 150-square feet masterpiece to photographers and members of the public.

“Absolute disaster,” his wife said in the video as the 40,000-piece puzzle themed after the Queen's Diamond Jubilee crashed to the ground.

Before the mishap, Guinness World Records acknowledged his hand-cut wooden, jigsaw puzzle. The company said it will need six weeks to process his documentary and filming evidence to verify his attempt before they can declare him a world record holder.

Now, Evans has one week to rebuild the jigsaw puzzle so it can be displayed at the Queen's Sandringham House residence in Norfolk and then be auctioned off later this year for charity.
